Joy Rabon is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Alabama and North Carolina, and she also holds certifications as a Clinical Trauma Professional and an Integrative Mental Health Professional. She is a registered out-of-state telehealth provider in Florida.
With over 30 years of experience in public, private, and school settings, Joy has a deep background in the mental health field. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, in 1996. She then pursued a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Appalachian State University, graduating in 2000. In 2010, she completed additional coursework at Appalachian State University for School Counseling Licensure.
After living in Boone, North Carolina, for nearly 20 years, Joy moved to Dothan, Alabama, in 2015. Although she considers Dothan her “home base,” she frequently returns to the Boone/Blowing Rock area, which she affectionately refers to as “home-home.” Joy's practice is now exclusively online, allowing her to offer counseling services across Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina.
Her therapeutic style is relaxed, casual, conversational, and reflective. Joy engages directly with clients throughout their healing journey, rather than acting as a distant observer. She uses postmodern approaches like Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapy, combined with systemic, holistic, neuro-biopsychosocial, and traditional methods, to support emotional and relational healing and balance.
Joy has a particular interest in addressing traumatic stress through a holistic integration of mind, body, brain, and spirit. Known for her direct, yet down-to-earth demeanor and creative approach to finding solutions and alternative perspectives, she offers sensitive, compassionate support and builds strong relationships with her clients.
By keeping her practice simple and small, Joy can work closely with clients from the initial contact through every step of their journey. This minimizes confusion with intake and billing and ensures quicker responses to client needs, contrasting with large telehealth corporations that often face delays, billing issues, and privacy concerns.
